Week Ahead: Volleyball NCAA Action, Women's Crosstown Shootout On Tap

Here's a look at what's coming up this week in UC sports:

• The men's basketball team will host Wright State at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats will then take on Toledo at 7 p.m. Saturday in their first away game of the season in Toledo, Ohio. UC is 5-0 this season.
• The women's basketball team will travel to Dayton at 7 p.m. Thursday. They will then come home to host crosstown rival No. 5/5 Xavier in the annual Crosstown Shootout at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fifth Third Arena.
• The football team will host Pittsburgh at Noon on Saturday at Nippert Stadium for Represent the C Day/Senior Day and the final game of the season. The game will be televised on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2, and on the radio on 700 WLW. The Bearcats are 4-7 (2-4 BIG EAST).
• The swimming and diving teams come back from a week off to compete in the Miami Invitational Thursday through Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.
• The No. 22 ranked volleyball team will return to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year, taking on Western Kentucky on Friday in Champaign, Illinois. The 5:30 p.m. EST contest will be a rematch from October for the Bearcats (29-5) and Lady Toppers.

In case you missed it:

• Junior Eric Finan wrapped up an outstanding cross country season finishing 60th at the NCAA Championships. Finan completed the 10K course in 30:41.1.
• The men's basketball team defeated Florida A&M, 76-51 last Monday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats went on to beat Savannah State, 54-41, last Wednesday also at Fifth Third Arena. Cincinnati dominated Dayton, 68-34, last Saturday at US Bank Arena. The Bearcats are 5-0 on the season for the first time in coach Mick Cronin's career at UC.
• The women's basketball team defeated Mount St. Mary's, 67-47, last Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena. UC then defeated Valparaiso, 65-51, last Sunday in Valparaiso, Ind. The Bearcats improved to 5-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
• The football team fell to Connecticut last Saturday, 38-17 in East Hartford, Conn. in its last away game of the season.
• The No. 22-ranked volleyball team defeated Miami University in three sets last Friday in its regular-season finale at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio. The Bearcats ended the season with a record of 29-5 (13-1 BIG EAST).
