Here's a look at what's happening this week in UC sports:

  • The men's basketball team will face Indiana University Southeast at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena. This is the Bearcats' second and final exhibition game before starting regular season play on Nov. 15.
  • The women's basketball team will kick off the 2010-11 regular season against Southwest Baptist at 11 a.m. Friday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats will then battle North Florida at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fifth Third Arena.
  • The cross country team will come back from a week off to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday in Oakland, Mich.
  • The football team will return from an off week to take on West Virginia at noon Saturday in Morgantown, W. Va. The game will be televised on the BIG EAST Network and on the radio on 700 WLW. Cincinnati is 3-5 (1-2 BIG EAST).
  • The men's soccer team will host Connecticut in the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Monday at Gettler Stadium. UC finished the regular season with a 7-4-6 (5-1-3 BIG EAST) record.
  • The No. 21 volleyball team will wrap up BIG EAST play with a pair of matches this week. Cincinnati will take on Syracuse at 7 p.m. Friday in Syracuse, N.Y. The Bearcats will then face Marquette at 3 p.m. Sunday in Milwaukee, Wis. UC is 24-4 overall and tied for Louisville atop the BIG EAST at 11-1.
  • The baseball team will play three intra-squad games this week at Marge Schott Stadium. The first game will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, followed by a 1 p.m. game Friday, and a 1 p.m. game Saturday, all leading up to their annual Red/Black World Series Nov. 18-21.

In case you missed it:

  • The men's basketball team defeated Carleton University, 89-57 in their first exhibition game of the 2010-11 season last Monday. The Bearcats out-rebounded the Ravens, 33-25, shot 48.3 percent from the floor, and 72.5 percent from the free throw line. UC scored 32 points off of turnovers and had 12 steals as a team.
  • The women's basketball team defeated Northern Kentucky 57-55, in overtime last Saturday in an exhibition game at Fifth Third Arena. Shareese Ullis led all players with 16 points.
  • The swimming and diving team dropped a pair of dual meets last week to BIG EAST rivals Pittsburgh and West Virginia at the Keating Aquatics Center. Against Pittsburgh, the men's team dropped a 172-71 decision while the women's squad fell 177.5-67.5. Nate Kramer set a KAC pool record of 9:35.05 in the men's 1,000-yard freestyle event, taking first place by over four seconds. Cincinnati then split a dual meet against West Virginia last Saturday. The men's squad fell to the Mountaineers, 195-101, and the women took the win, 162-130.
  • The University of Cincinnati indoor track and field team announced its 2010-11 schedule last week. The season kicks off at home with the Red and Black intra-squad meet in the Armory Fieldhouse on Friday, Dec. 3. The Bearcats head to Charleston, Ill. for the EIU Early Bird on Dec. 10 before a break in action the following weekend.
  • The volleyball team defeated West Virginia, 3-2, last Saturday in a BIG EAST Conference match in Morgantown, W. Va. The Bearcats went on to sweep Pittsburgh, 3-0 on Sunday in Pittsburgh, Pa. for their seventh straight win.
