OXFORD, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati track and field team placed second in the women's division and fifth in the men's at the Miami Invitational on Saturday at George L. Rider Track on the campus of Miami University.

In the women's division, Cincinnati placed second overall in the team scoring after earning 105 points. Host Miami (Ohio) won the women's division with a 111 point total.

Junior Aricka Rhodes (Westerville, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) won the 400 meters in 54.18 seconds, the second-fastest time in the BIG EAST this season. Rhodes also ran the anchor leg on the 4x100-meters relay, leading the Bearcats to first place with a time of 45.94.

Natasha Burse (Garland, Texas/Richardson) finished the 100-meter dash in 11.94 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 24.19 seconds, both good for first-place finishes.

Freshman Kaitlyn Good (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia) recorded a season best of 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump to give the Bearcats another first-place finish. Junior Michelle Eby (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne) placed first in the pole vault after clearing a height of 13 feet, 1.5 inches.

Junior Paris Campbell (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) finished second in the 100-meter hurdles after recording a personal-record time of 14.02 seconds, just 0.59 seconds away from first place.

Sophomore Gabby Calderon (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) scored a fourth-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 1:03.29.

The UC men's team scored 71 team points to place fifth overall. Miami (Ohio) finished first in the men's division with a score of 116.

Junior hurdler Terrence Somerville (Akron, Ohio/Buchtel) set a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.93, which currently ranks first in the Big East and 18th in the NCAA.

Three different Bearcats finished fourth in five separate events despite setting season-best marks. Senior Chase VanCura (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario) placed fourth in the 200 and 400-meter dash events with times of 22.05 and 48.45.

In the 1,500-meter run, junior Michael Rutherford (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) had a season-best time that placed him fourth, finishing in 3:49.19 minutes. Junior Oliver Book (Starlight, Ind./Providence) ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:22.37.

The Bearcats host the All-Ohio Championships on Friday and Saturday at Gettler Stadium.
