BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Eric Finan and junior Terrence Somerville each advanced to the NCAA Track and Field finals on Saturday (May 28) at the East Region preliminaries at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.

Finan posted a 14:07.54 in the 5000 meters to place fourth while Somerville sped to a 13.55 finish in the 110 hurdles, good for second in the region. The pair will join Kathy Klump in Des Moines, Iowa, for the NCAA finals on June 8-11. Klump qualified for the finals on Friday in the 800 meters.

The record-setting women's relay teams again posted school-best times, but missed on advancing to the NCAA finals by eyelashes. The 4x100 team posted a 44.84, best in school history, but finished 13th, .05 behind Missippi, which finished 12th and earned the final spot in the finals field. The 4x400 squad mirrored the efforts of the 4x100 team, finishing in a school-record time of 3:37.93 and finishing 13th, one spot out of qualifying.

Senior Natasha Burse, who will finish her career with three outdoor school records, placed 16th in the 200 meters in 24.03.

In the field, Mary Bridges, Jessica Molyet, and Jake Haseman competed in the discus. Bridges finished 27th (157' 4"), Molyet 34th (148' 6"), and Haseman placed 35th (160' 6").

The 2011 NCAA Championships will be held at Drake University on June 8-11.
