All-Ohio results

Josh Dangel, Michael Nwankwo, Terrence Somerville, Darnell Gilbert and Kevin Fink all claimed individual event titles to help lead the UC men's outdoor track & field team to a third-place finish at the All-Ohio championships on Saturday. The UC women's team finished fourth on the strength of a team high 23 points earned by Shanay Portis. The meet was held at Ohio University's Goldsberry Track.

The UC men's results were further highlighted by some impressive sweeps in several events. Somerville led a 1-2-3 Bearcats' finish in the 110-meters hurdles, winning in 14.25 just ahead of teammate Dailyn Moore's 14.26 for second and Bryan Cain in third at 14.55. UC had an identical 1-2-3 sweep in the triple jump with Nwankwo winning at 49', Tariq Sanders finishing second (48' 0.75") and Chris Greene in third (47' 3.75"). The Bearcats claimed the top two spots in the 200 meters and 5,000 meters as well. Gilbert won the 200 in 22.07, followed by Somerville in 22.18. Fink just edged out teammate Colin Cotton in the 5k, winning in 14:50.74 and Cotton in second at 14:50.80.

Dangel claimed his victory on Friday, continuing his dominance this season in the pole vault by winning the competition by half-a-foot.

Portis's results for the women's team was highlighted by her win on Friday in the long jump (19' 4"). She came back on Saturday to add a second-place finish in the 200 meters (24.29) and fourth-place finish in the 100 meters (12.07). She also ran the second leg for the 4x100-meters relay team that finished second in 46.01.

Ohio State University won the women's team title with 212 points, followed by Kent State University in second (148), University of Akron in third (99) and UC in fourth (96.5). Kent State won the men's competition with 216 points, second-place Akron had 190 and UC was third with 174.

In the men's 1,500 meters, Jeffrey Griffiths was second (3:58.61) Evan Baum was fourth (4:01.01) and Chase Beckmann seventh (4:03.30).

Frida Akerstrom was second in the women's shot put (49' 7.75") and Mekayla Breland was seventh (45' 7.25").

Mary Bridges was second in the women's discus throw (163' 8.25") and Jessica Molyet was sixth (150' 5.5").

Jacob Franklin was third (32:22.70) and Greg Sanders seventh (33:05.57) in the men's 10,000 meters.

Erika Hurd was third in the women's high jump (5'8") and Ashleigh Pickens was seventh (5' 4").

Javette Lee was third in the women's 400-meters hurdles (1:02.39) and DanHeisha Harding was sixth (1:05.93).

In the women's pole vault, Alyssa McBride was third (13' 1.5"), Mackenzie Fields fourth (12' 9.5") and Emily Clay eighth (11' 11.75").

The men's 4x100-meters relay team of Darius Howard, Gilbert, Kevin Girgis and Bryan Maldinger was third in 43.18.

The men's 4x400-meters relay team of Tony Williamson, Ryan Wynn, Brian Barney and Gilbert was third in 3:22.43.

Beckmann was fourth in the 3,000-meters steeplechase (9:26.12) and Oliver Book finished seventh (9:52.90) and Patrick Winebar eighth (9;55.15).

Kenya Woodall was fourth in the women's 400 meters (56.00).

Gilbert was fourth in the men's 400 meters (49.35).

Williamson was fourth in the men's 800 meters (1:52.77).

The women's 4x400-meters relay team of Lee, Jada Grant, Jalisa Jarrett and Woodall finished fourth in 3:54.36.

Sanders was fifth (22' 11.5") and Nwankwo sixth (22' 5.25") in the men's long jump.

In the men's decathlon competition, Kyle Kubera was fifth with 6,538 points, Nathan Deslandes was sixth (5,946) and Matt Bova seventh (5,857).

Dominque Best was sixth in the women's long jump (18' 6").

Monica Phillips was seventh in the women's hammer throw (171' 6.75").

Colt Robinson was seventh in the men's pole vault (15' 5").

Josh Province was seventh in the men's hammer throw (168' 7.5").

Howard was seventh in the men's 100 meters (11.13) and fifth in the men's 200 meters (22.73).

Ashley Earman was eighth in the women's 10,000 meters (38:56.33).

Baum was eighth in the men's 5,000 meters (15:18.04).

The Bearcats will next be in action at the Jesse Owens Invitational at Ohio State next Friday and Saturday.
