CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer will begin a three-match homestand Wednesday when it welcomes IUPUI to Gettler Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer will begin a three-match homestand Wednesday when it welcomes IUPUI to Gettler Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
 
Admission to the match is free of charge as part of the season-long Experience UC initiative.

All home matches in 2018 will once again be streamed live on GoBearcats.com and will all be free. The link to the stream can be found on the men's soccer schedule page. On the same page, links to live statistics can also be found.

// EXPERIENCE UC
Again this season, the Bearcats will be participating in the University's Experience UC initiative that offers free admission (no ticket required) to regular season, home events for select sports. Enjoy free admission to cross country, lacrosse, volleyball, women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, swimming and diving, and track and field home events. Football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball home events will be ticketed. 
 
Experience UC is a community outreach effort that offers the opportunity for sports fans to witness the seismic changes transpiring on our incredible campus. We are proud to open our doors to fans of all ages. The Bearcats are competing to be the class of the league and we invite people to be a part of an unprecedented time in Clifton.

// SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
IUPUI is 1-5-2 overall, 1-2 in Horizon League play, and has lost its last three matches. In their latest game, the Jaguars fell, 1-0, at Green Bay on a penalty kick in the 109th minute. IUPUI's lone win on the year was against Detroit Mercy on Sept. 8. So far in 2018, the Jaguars have scored only three goals with Tommy Patacca scoring two. Goalkeeper Quinn McCallion has 47 saves on the season with two shutouts. In the preseason, IUPUI was picked to finish last in the nine-team Horizon League.
 
// IUPUI SERIES
The Bearcats lead the all-time series against the Jaguars, 7-2-0, and have won the last three matchups, including five of the last six. Last season, UC topped IUPUI, 2-1, at Gettler Stadium. Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) scored the game winner during the 63rd minute. The Red & Black is 5-1 all-time versus the Jaguars in Cincinnati.
 
// LAST TIME OUT
UC (1-7, 0-1 AAC) fell, 1-0, to the Memphis Tigers Sunday night in Memphis, Tennessee in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The Bearcats were the better team for much of the match, but a goal by UM (5-2-2, 1-0 AAC) during the 45th minute proved to be the difference. For the game, UC had 11 shots, including five on goal. The Bearcats also totaled five corner kicks. Goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mitchellville, Md./Sacred Heart) was solid in goal with four saves.
 
// EPPS' DEBUT  
Newcomer Rex Epps (Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork/Army West Point), in his first game as a Bearcat, made his presence felt at the top of the attack with a team-best three shots on goal in 46 minutes of play at Memphis. The junior forward transferred to UC after two years at Army West Point. At Army, Epps led the Black Knights in goals (8), points (20) and shots (61), en route to 2017 All-Patriot League Second Team and Second Team All-Northeast Region honors as a sophomore. As a freshman, he led Army with 22 points, 11 goals, and five game-winning goals, garnering College Soccer News All-Freshman Third Team and All-Patriot League Third Team accolades. Epps is an Army veteran who will participate in the Army ROTC at UC.       
 
// DAYES OF OUR LIVES
Head coach Hylton Dayes is in his 18th season at the helm of the program in 2018. The dean of UC's varsity coaches and the all-time winningest coach in Bearcats men's soccer history, Dayes has won 132 matches in Clifton, reaching the NCAA Tournament twice (2003 & 2006). In 28 seasons as a collegiate head coach, including time as both the men's and women's head coach at Wright State, Dayes is 230-236-62.
 
// SMYTHE PRESEASON ALL-AAC
The American announced on Aug. 14 its preseason all-conference team with Smythe one of 13 players selected to the squad. UC has now had a player named to the preseason all-conference team in consecutive years after Patrick Nielsen was a unanimous pick in 2017, while also being tabbed preseason Defensive Player of the Year. In the preseason conference poll, the Bearcats were picked to finish seventh in the eight-team league.
