CINCINNATI - Action at the 2019 Tennessee Relays came to a close Saturday afternoon with the University of Cincinnati women's relay teams breaking one school record, nearly claiming a second and adding another Top 10 mark as the Bearcats closed out three days of competition in Knoxville. The team of Faith Banks, Haisha Bisiolu, Tiona Lattimore and Caisja Chandler smashed the UC record in the 4x200m relay, running 1:34.38 to win the race.
// RECORD BREAKER
The women opened the day with the 4x200m relay and blew away the competition and the school record as they raced to a winning time of 1:34.38 with Indiana in second at 1:38.14. The team of Banks, Bisiolu, Lattimore and Chandler crushed the school record of 1:38.15 that was run in 2017 and included both Bisiolu and Lattimore, a time that is now second by 3.77 seconds. In fact, prior to the 2017 run, the Bearcats had not run the race since the 2005 season with the 2000 squad holding the mark at 1:38.41, more than four seconds off the new pace.
// MISSED IT BY *THAT* MUCH
While the 4x200m relay team took down a record, the distance medley relay come up just short of joining them as the Bearcats ran 11:54.47, missing the record of 11:53.49 by 0.98 seconds. The Bearcats that raced today included Sam Mikula (1,200m), Kylie Cutlip (400m), Sammy Hentz (800m) and Hannah Markel (1,600m) with Hentz having run the same leg on the record team three years ago as a freshman. In women's program history, the outdoor DMR has only been contested by UC athletes seven times now with only three teams going under 12 minutes, including the 2016 record team and today's performance along with the 1999 team that ran 11:59.12.
// ANOTHER IN THE TOP 10
The 4x100m relay also added its name to the all-time Top 10 as the team of Chandler, Bisiolu, Banks and Lattimore raced to a time of 44.75 to finish second overall on the day while running the #6 time in school history. Today's time is the seventh sub-45 time UC has tallied with Bisiolu being part of six, all of which are in the Top 6 in program history, and Lattimore in five. Today marks the fourth year in a row the women have added a mark to the all-time Top 10 with all six ranking in the Top 6 and all clocking in at 44.72 or faster.
// FAST FROSH

With her performance today in the relays, Chandler finished the weekend with four marks in the program's all-time Top 10, two school records and two freshman records. Along with the relays, Chandler ran 11.42m in the 100m dash Friday to break the school's overall and rookie records before running 23.18 in the 200m to stand second all-time and first among freshmen.
