CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati track and field program racked up 11 wins totaling 29 podium finishes Friday night at the Akron Al Campbell Invitational inside the Stile Athletics Field House.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati track and field program racked up 11 wins totaling 29 podium finishes Friday night at the Akron Al Campbell Invitational inside the Stile Athletics Field House.

On the men's side, Isaiah McCall (mile run), Tyrese Vanhorne (400m), Toni Banos (3000m), Austin Edwards (Long Jump), Danny Jones (Shot Put) claimed top honors.

On the women's side, Victoria Abunaw (60m Hurdles), Faith Banks (400m), Caisja Chandler (200m), Taylor Beard (High Jump), Rachel Coghill (Pole Vault), Malin Smith (Shot Put) took gold in their respective events.
 
WINNER WINNER

MEN
  • McCall paced the competition with a time of 8.01 in the men's 60m hurdles, awarding him his first win of the season.
  • Vanhorne earned a clocking of 49.06 in the 400m, enough to give him the first-place finish and his second win in two weeks.
  • Banos also claimed his second win in a row, this time in the 3000m with a personal best of 8:12.70, beating out his previous best of 8:20.19.
  • Edwards soared in to first with a mark of 7.20m in the long jump.
  • Jones had a best heave of 15.44m in the shot put, projecting him into first and enough for his second win of the season.
WOMEN
  • Abunaw led the Bearcats in their top three podium finishes with a clocking of 8.55 in the 60m hurdles.
  • Banks claimed her first solo event win of the season with a time of 55.43 in the 400m.
  • Chandler paced the competition with a time of 23.84 in the 200m dash, securing her fourth victory of the season.
  • Beard also secured her fourth win of season with a mark of 1.70m in the women's high jump. With this win, Beard has won all of her events this season and currently sits at No. 5 in the NCAA in women's high jump.
  • Coghill continues to dominate in pole vault, claiming another victory with a personal best marking of 4.05m.
  • Smith took top honors with a commanding heave of 15.66m in the women's shot put claiming her second victory in two weeks, and her fourth of the season.
 
UP NEXT
The Bearcats will take a few weeks off at they prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championships, Friday-Saturday, Mar. 12-13, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, inside the Randal Tyson Center.
