McLay and Santilli Take Doubles Title, Guna Shares Singles Title at the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Tennis team concluded its first action of the fall Saturday at the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational. Cassie McLay and Maria Santilli took home the Doubles Title while Ioana Guna shared the Singles Title with Bowling Green's Ioanna Tsodari and Western Kentucky's Cora-Lynn Von Dungern.

Action took place over two days, Friday and Saturday, as four teams competed. The four participating teams were Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Miami (OH) and Western Kentucky. 

Coach Eric Toth said he was pleased with the effort from his team this weekend and that he is looking forward to see how the rest of the year goes.

"I really liked everything I saw all weekend," said Toth. "The expectations that we had for this team... they were met. We had three very good weeks of preparation leading into this weekend, and I felt we would compete really well. We did both days. I'm really happy with everything I saw."

Redshirt senior Emma Miceli, who went 4-1 between Friday and Saturday, said it was just great being out there on the home courts again, and that she was very happy with the way the team played.

"I had so much fun playing doubles with my best friend (Guna)," said Miceli. "We had really good chemistry out there. I loved being out here again with all the girls, it's a really fun atmosphere. So many girls played so well this weekend."
