TicketsLOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Cincinnati tennis team lost to Louisville on the road 5-2 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Cincinnati moves to 0-2 on the season and Louisville starts the season 1-0.
Doubles play got started with Ioana Guna and Emma Miceli losing in the number two spot followed by Callie Flanagan and Kelli Niehaus losiing in the number three spot for Louisville to take the doubles point. However Cassie McLay and Elizabeth Pendergast would win in number one spot to earn their first doubles win of the season.
Maria Santilli (2-0) secured her second straight singles win, defeatung Dina Chaika single-handedly in two sets. Emma Miceli won her first singles match of the season, moving to 1-1 in singles play. She now owns the #7 spot all-time in career singles wins with 69 and the #8 spot all-time in career combined wins with 125.

"A bit of a disappointing result today. We were just not as sharp as we were in our opener and it cost us. Make no mistake, Louisville was the better team today and the deserved winner, but we have enough talent on this team to get it done against a team of Louisville's ability. I see it everyday in practice, I believe it. Our girls just need to step up in these type of matches, believe it, and get it done. We need to come out on Sunday and be ready to go against a much improved Dayton team. Everyone will need to be ready to go from the first point of doubles and play well for us to earn our first win."
