TicketsBRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophomore Maddie Walker broke the school record in the 3000m run to lead several standout performances by the Cincinnati track and field teams on Saturday at the Charlie Thomas Invitational held at Texas A&M's Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium at the McFerrin Athletic Center.
Walker placed fourth in the 3000m with a time of 9:29.13 to break teammate Ellie Leather's old mark of 9:30.10 set just last month.
Leather also competed this weekend in the mile run as UC's only athlete at the Camel City Invitational, running the second-fastest time ever by a Bearcat with a 4:39.58 – just off her school-record mark of 4:36.83.
Other top performances at the Charlie Thomas Invitational included runner-up finishes from seniors Kennedy Marable (triple jump) and Cannon Riddle (heptathlon).
Senior Caisja Chandler placed fourth in the 60m dash and fifth in the 200m dash.
PERFORMANCES OF NOTE
// Men's Heptathlon:
Riddle entered the final day of the heptathlon in third and moved up one spot to finish with 5,237 points, while freshman teammate Dominqee Hall totaled 4,900 to finish fourth.
// Women's Triple Jump:
Marable finished second with a mark of 12.63m (41-5.25), saving her best leap for her sixth and final attempt.
// Men's 200m Dash:
Senior Chris Borzor ran a season-best time of 21.18 to finish fourth in the 200m dash. The mark is the seventh-fastest in school history. He also placed eighth in the 400m dash (47.50).
// Women's 60m dash:
Chandler ran a time of 7.45 in the 60m dash to place fourth after qualifying with the fifth-fastest time (7.49) in the prelims.
// Women's 200m Dash:
Chandler finished fifth in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 23.70.
// Women's 400m Dash:
Junior Faith Banks ran a personal-best time of 54.68 to finish seventh in the 400m dash.
// Women's High Jump:
Freshman Annika Kinley finished third in the high jump finals with a leap of 1.68m (5-6).
