CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati track and field teams headed to Wichita, Kan. To compete in the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship meet. The meet will run from Friday to Sunday and be hosted by Wichita State University at Cessna Stadium.
MEET SCHEDULE
All times listed in EST. The meet starts on Friday at 1 p.m. with the women's hammer throw. Friday consists of throwing events, the start of the heptathlon and decathlon and prelims in running events. Friday will end with the finals in the 10,000-meter run at 9:35 p.m.
Competition will resume Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the remaining events in the decathlon and heptathlon. Jumping and throwing finals will take place Saturday starting at 4 p.m. and more running events will hold prelims starting at 6:30 p.m. Day two will conclude with the finals of the 3000-meter steeplechase at 8:45 p.m.
Sunday's events will start at 3:30 p.m. with finals in all field and running events. The meet is expected to end at 8:45 p.m. after the 4x400-meter relays. An award ceremony will follow at 9:05 p.m.

WHERE WE LEFT OFF
The UC track and field teams last competed at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. Three Bearcats women took home first-place finishes: Leonie Troeger in the javelin throw, Hannah Jackson in the hammer throw and Victora Abunaw in the 100m Hurdles.
At the AAC Indoor Championship meet both the men's and women's teams took home second place. Conference champions included the women's distance medley relay, Austin Edwards in the long jump, Ellie Leather in the mile run and 800-meter run, Steven McElroy in the 400-meter dash and Annika Kinley and Alyssa Matheny in the high jump.
At the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship meet the men's team finished in third and the women's team finished in second. Returning champions include Cannon Riddle in the decathlon, Austin Edwards in the long jump, and Ellie Leather in the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Previous indoor and outdoor conference champions are hoping to repeat as outdoor champions. Austin Edwards will be going for three straight championships in the long jump and Ellie Leather will be going for three straight 800-meter run championships. The Bearcats are going into the meet with eight athletes ranked first in their events. Athletes competing are listed below:
