"We battled with another tough opponent today, but it was an all-around good effort from our team," said head coach Eric Toth. "It was great to see Elizabeth pull out the win over a tough UK#1 in a match where she had to really dig in to come out ahead."
Kentucky claimed the doubles point with victories on court one and three. Redshirt junior Kelli Niehaus and redshirt senior Maria Santilli were leading 5-4 on court two when the initial point was clinched by the Wildcats.
Sophomore Elizabeth Pendergast rallied from a set down to earn her first win of the spring on court one, clinching the point 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Bearcats would continue to the battle, but the Wildcats claimed three more singles courts to secure the win.
Cincinnati heads out west to take on Utah and Montana inside George S. Eccles Tennis Center from Feb. 4-5.
