BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Graduate student Tyler Wirth and freshman Oliver Mayer's record-setting performances highlighted the University of Cincinnati track and field program's weekend at the Indiana Invitational inside the Gladstein Fieldhouse.

One of the best distance runners in program history, Wirth continued to solidify that claim as he broke his own mile school record with a time of 3:59.13. His record time currently ranks fifth in the nation and joined BYU's Aidan Troutner as the only Big 12 athletes to run a sub-4 minute mile this season.

The Hawley, Pa., native is the only Bearcat in program history to ever run a sub-4 minute mile and has now accomplished the feat twice in his career as he originally broke the record last year.

Joining Wirth in taking down a program record was Mayer, who broke the UC freshman weight throw record with a massive personal best throw of 19.29m / 63' 3.5" besting former Bearcat Sam Meece's 2018 mark of 18.64m / 61' 2".

Mayer finished second overall in the event and moved to fourth all-time in program history with his mark.

Including the two records, Cincinnati recorded four total program top-10 marks over the course of the two-day meet.

Sophomore Gwen Stare recorded her second all-time top 10 time this season as she ran the seventh fastest 600m in program history clocking a time of 1:35.49. Last week at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet she ran the fourth-fastest 1,000m in school history with a time of 2:53.96.

In the women's pole vault sophomore Kendal Fisher cleared a personal best 4.97m / 13' 0.25", which moved her to ninth all-time in UC History. She placed third overall in the competition.

Junior Annika Kinley took home the Bearcat's lone event victory of the weekend as she won the women's pentathlon scoring 3,193 points.

Kinley's victory in the high jump portion (1.78m / 5' 10") and second-place finish in the long jump section (4.89m / 16' 0.50") helped her secure her first career pentathlon victory.
