CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program had a select group of eight Bearcats compete in the 5k race at the CSCAA Open Water Championships in Sarasota Fla. on Saturday morning.

For the women’s team, two Bearcats had strong finishes in the top 10 facing 118 competitors. Libby Michel finished seventh with a time of 58:39.80, while Taira Vroom placed ninth with a time of 59:15.10. Hannah Johnson (50th) and Ellie Schrank (78th) also competed in this event.

Four Bearcats had top 30 finishes on the men’s side against 89 competitors, including Brady Beyer claiming 19th (55:33.30), Kjell Cady notching 24th (55:46.30), Alejandro Varon placing 26th (55:49.60) and Kyle Bumgardner finishing 29th (55:55.70).

Up next, the Bearcats travel farther south to Miami, Fla. for a dual meet versus Miami (FL) and Florida Atlantic University at 3 p.m. ET on Monday, Dec 15.
