Track and Field Heads to Tucson for Big 12 Outdoor Championships

The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field teams are gearing up to compete in Tucson, Arizona at Drachman Stadium for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships this week.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field teams are gearing up to compete in Tucson, Arizona at Drachman Stadium for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships this week.

The competition kicks off Thursday at 2 p.m. ET with Miller Mabury in the decathlon, followed by field events at 3 p.m. ET and running events at 9:30 p.m. ET. Friday's schedule begins with multi events at 2 p.m. ET, followed by field events starting at 7 p.m. ET and running events at 8:30 p.m. ET. Sunday's action starts with field events at 6 p.m. ET, while running events kick off at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Bearcats will travel 43 athletes to the meet, 21 men and 22 women.

// LAST TIME OUTThe Bearcats claimed two event victories and recorded one UC all-time top 10 marks on Friday at the IU Billy Hayes Invitational

John Apel and Miranda Tcheutchoua each claimed victories in their respective events to lead the charge for the small group of competing Bearcats.

Apel set a personal best of 47.18 seconds in the 400-meter dash to take first place. Tcheutchoua threw a 56.42m during her first attempt in the shot put, a mark that held up for the win.

Tyler Thompson recorded an all-time top 10 mark in the hammer throw event with an impressive mark of 60.15m. This was a personal best for Thompson, which was also good for a third-place finish in the event.
