BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — John Apel and Miranda Tcheutchoua each claimed victories to lead a five-athlete contingent from the University of Cincinnati at the IU Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday.
Apel set a personal best of 47.18 seconds in the 400-meter dash to take first place. Tcheutchoua opened with a throw of 56.42m in the shot put, a mark that held up for the win.
Morgan Komolafe also turned in a personal best, finishing second in the 400-meter dash in 54.79 seconds.
Ben Fiser and Tyler Thompson both competed in the hammer throw. Thompson set a personal best of 60.15m to finish third, while Fiser was sixth at 58.60m.

Cincinnati is set to head to Tucson, Ariz., to compete in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships. The competition, hosted by the University of Arizona at Drachman Stadium, will start on Thursday, May 14th, and run through Saturday, May 16th.
