CINCINNATI – Cincinnati redshirt junior offensive lineman Evan Tengesdahl has received his second Preseason All-America nod, this time being placed on the second team by Athlon Sports.
Tengesdahl was previously named a Preseason All-American by Phil Steele.
He was one of six Bearcats to earn Preseason All-Big 12 honors from Athlon as well, as offensive lineman Joe Cotton joined him on the first team, punter Max Fletcher was placed on the second team, offensive lineman Taran Tyo and linebacker Jonathan Thompson earned spots on the third team, and kicker Stephen Rusnak was picked to the fourth team.
The offensive line trio of Cotton, Tengesdahl, and Tyo comprises one of the nation’s top returning units. Cincinnati’s O-Line allowed the fewest sacks (8) and tackles for loss (43) among Power Four teams in 2025.
ABOUT THE 2026 BEARCATS
Led by preseason All-America guard Evan Tengesdahl and all-conference teammates Taran Tyo and Joe Cotton, the Bearcats feature arguably the nation’s top offensive line heading into the 2026 season. They will protect transfer quarterback JC French, who takes the reins of one of the Big 12's most productive offenses. The defense will be led by linebackers and Ohio natives Antwan Peek Jr. (Cincinnati) and Jonathan Thompson (Columbus) under first-year defensive coordinator Nate Woody’s new-look scheme.
