2024 ITF: Competed in eight events during the season... He placed first overall in the shotput (17.35m) at the Indiana Early Bird... Placed second overall in the shotput (17.13m) at the Indiana Invitational... He placed first overall in the shotput (17.55m) in the 2024 MSJ February Meet.
2024 OTF: Competed in six events during the season... At the 2024 Oliver Nikoloff meet, he recorded a personal best in the hammer throw (48.97m) to place 10th overall and placed first overall in the shotput (17.64m)... Placed first overall at the RedHawk Invitational in the shotput (18.32m).
2022-23 SEASONS
2023 ITF: Competed in six meets during the season… At the AAC Championships, he competed in both the shot put and weight throw and earned second-team all-conference with a throw of 17.66m… At the Gladstein Invitational, he recorded the second-best indoor shot put throw in program history with a personal best mark of 18.75m… He recorded a personal best weight throw mark of 15.83m at the Cardinal Classic.
2023 OTF: Competed in seven meets during the season… Qualified for his first appearance at the NCAA East First Round… At the AAC Championships, he competed in three events and earned all-conference honors in the shot put with a throw of 17.72m. At the Ole Miss Classic, he recorded a personal best outdoor shot put of 18.05m, the third-best mark in program history.
Prior to UC (Barton CC): He attended Barton Country Community College, competing as a thrower for two years… A 2022 NJCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Champion, he won the shot put with a personal best mark of 18.32m… At the event, he also set a personal record in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.48m… At the John Jacobs Invitational, he recorded a personal best of 48.91m in the discus event. At the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, he earned a silver medal in the shot put with a throw of 17.09m…
Personal: Born Giovanni Gutierrez on October 10, 1998…A native of Saddle Brook, New Jersey, he attended Saddle Brook High School… Son of John and Maria Gutierrez and had one brother… During his time at UC, he plans to major in criminal justice.
