STARTING PITCHER - TONY MAYNARD (2001-05)

In 2001 Tony Maynard was named a freshman All-American, one of five Bearcats to ever receive the award. That season Maynard posted a 4-0 record in 13 appearances, including seven starts. In 55 innings of work, he struck out 32 hitters, allowed two home runs, and held opposing batters to an average of .251. He led all pitchers in earned run average that season. Along with being named an All-American, Maynard was also named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. In the 2005 season, Maynard started 15 games, posting a 7-4 record. The 15 starts tie him for fifth all-time in an individual season. In 94.1 innings of work he struck out 54 and held opposing batters to an average of .254. Maynard concluded his career at Cincinnati with an overall record of 14-11, pitching 224.1 innings, and recording two saves.

STARTING PITCHER - B.J. BORSA (2000-03)

B.J. Borsa finished his career at Cincinnati second all-time in strikeouts, recording 277 of them in his four-year career as a Bearcat. More than anything else though, Borsa was the kind of starting pitcher managers loved to have in their rotation, because he was a workhorse. Borsa ranks No.1 all-time in innings pitched (363), and starts (59). His 363 innings pitched are almost 100 more than the next guy (265.1) and his 59 starts are 16 more than Keith Becker's 43. His 19 career wins rank him second, while his 13 complete games place him in a tie for seventh all-time. His best season came in 2002, when he went 6-9 with a 3.63 earned run average. In 104 innings of work, Borsa struck out 73 batters walked 29, and only allowed five home runs. He finished that season with six complete games and his 16 starts that season tie him for first all-time in an individual season. Overall he finished his Bearcat career ranked in the Top 10 in five statistical categories.
