TAMPA - The final day of competition at the 2021 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships closed with the women finishing in second place and the men in third place.
TEAM STANDINGS
The women's team finished in second place and the men's team in third place for the second straight conference championship. The men's final score of 137.50 is the highest the team has ever scored in AAC history, and between both the men and the women it is the highest score combined ever for the Bearcats.
LEATHER IS GOLDEN - TWICE
In Ellie Leather's first race of the day, she not only smoked the competition but ran a championship meet record of 4:18.64 in the 1,500 meter event to earn her first gold medal of the day. Not long after the 1,500 meter run, she went on to run the 800 meter race with a time of 2:08.62 to earn her second gold medal and stand atop the podium for the Bearcats. She earned one more point for the Bearcats in the 5,000 meter race when she finished in eight place with a time of 17:13.51 and was the highest scoring Bearcat on the weekend.

PODIUM FINISHES
- Taylor Beard won her first career AAC title in the outdoor high jump event, jumping 1.82 meters to earn the gold medal.
- In the women's triple jump, Kennedy Marable started out strong by jumping 13.02 meters in the second flight, the first time she's cleared 13 meters in her career. The new personal record placed her in second to bring home the silver medal for the Bearcats.
- Jane Sensibaugh took home the bronze medal in the discus event after throwing 51.54 meters.
- In the first track event on the day, the women's 4x100 meter relay finished in second place with a time of 45:12. Tiona Lattimore, Calisa Manns, Faith Banks, and Caisja Chandler all took home a silver medal. The men's team, which included Isaiah McCall, Chris Borzor, LaCarr Trent, Austin Edwards, ran a 40:71 to secure a third place spot and bring home bronze medals.
- Lattimore earned her first individual medal of the meet when she ran a 53.68 in the 400 meter dash and finished in third place.
- Chandler went on to win two more individual medals. First, she placed third in the 100 meter dash with a new personal record and school record time of 11.28. She then went on to run the 200 meter dash in 22.85 seconds, a new personal best time. She placed second for the silver medal, her third medal of the day.
- Sam Meece won his second bronze medal of the championships after finishing third in the men's discus event, throwing 52.03 meters.
- Borzor competed in three total events and won three medals on the night. After bringing home the silver medal in the 4x100 meter relay, he went on to finish second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 46:15 and third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.46.
- Aaron Bienenfeld won the last medal of the night for the Bearcats, winning the silver medal after placing second in the 5,000 meter run with a final time of 13:46.68.
