CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country programs compete in the Fighting Illini Big Ten Preview on Friday in Savoy, Ill.  

The meet begins at 5 p.m. ET with the women's 6k followed by the men's 8k starting at 5:45 p.m. ET. The Fighting Illini Big Ten Preview will be held on the University of Illinois Blue Golf Course. More information about the meet can be found here

In addition to Cincinnati and host Illinois, the nine-team field will be rounded out by Butler, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin.

In the men's field, two teams garnered a national ranking in the preseason poll – No. 12 Butler and No. 13 Wisconsin. In the women's field, Wisconsin was ranked No. 19 in the preseason national poll.

// LAST TIME OUT
The Bearcats competed in their first meet of the 2024 season, the Sam Bell Invitational on Aug. 30. 

Freshman Patrick Kiprop won the men's 6k with a course record time of 17:23.96. The Kenya native won the race by a massive margin of a minute. He held an impressive 5:46.16 pace throughout the race.

The men's team secured the top four finishers and totaled 17 points to win the meet. 
 
Junior Claire Curtsinger won the women's 4k with a course record time of 14:02.73, leading the women's team to a second-place finish with 48 points. The Bearcats had five runners finish inside the top 15. 

// KIPROP NAMED BIG 12 MEN'S RUNER OF THE WEEK ON SEPT. 3
Patrick Kiprop was named the Big 12 Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance at the Sam Bell Invitational. 

Kiprop is the first Cincinnati student-athlete to win a Big 12 weekly award since Tyler Wirth did so in 2023. Wirth won the men's 6k with a time of 18:01.51 at the RedHawk Rumble.
