NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program recorded three program records, five event victories and 24 UC all-time top 10 marks this weekend at the Music City Challenge inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.
Graduate student Astley Davis rewrote history, breaking a 54-year-old school record in the triple jump with a winning mark of 16.22m. The previous record (15.99m) was set by Bearcat Hall of Famer Al Lanier in 1972. Davis now leads the Big 12 and ranks No. 8 in the nation.
Akron, Ohio native Kya Epps continues to dominate this season as she captured the 200m program record and event victory, clocking a blistering time of 23.20 seconds. Epps now sits with the fifth fastest 200m time in the Big 12. Epps also won in the 60m dash, punching a time of 7.33 seconds.
Graduate student Fred Moudani-Likibi improved his grip on the shot put program record after posting a throw of 20.62m. The Savigny-Le-Temple, France native now stands at No. 1 in Big 12 and No. 2 in the nation.
Junior Gwen Stare notched the win in the 800m, logging a time of 2:11.94, while senior Abby Knouff vaulted to victory achieving a pole vault mark of 4.27m.
