CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati women’s cross-country team is heading to Cedarville, Ohio, to compete in the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Challenge, where 37 other programs will be in attendance on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.

The Bearcats are sending 11 athletes to the meet, where they will run the 6k.

Junior Lucas Towne won the 6K to lead the Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams to runner-up finishes at the RedHawk Rumble on Friday, the season opener for both squads.

Towne crossed the line in 18:01.34, shattering his previous personal best of 19:16.7 by more than a minute.

The Bearcats men's team finished second with 40 points, while the women's team also placed second, scoring 43.

The women placed four runners in the top 10 of the 5K. Junior Christina Allen led the way in fourth place with a time of 18:33.10, and fifth-year Sara Maddix was right behind her in fifth at 18:33.63. Mia Heine took ninth in 18:48.86, and Ireland Wildhart finished 10th in 18:49.22.

The men placed three runners in the top 10, led by Towne's victory. Senior Youssef Asslouj, competing in his first race as a Bearcat, took fifth in 18:33.39. Senior Isaac Schachleiter rounded out the group in ninth, finishing in 18:42.59.
