CINCINNATI--Dan Osterbrock tossed his second complete game of the season, allowing three runs on eight hits over nine innings, and the University of Cincinnati offense provided enough to top University of Pittsburgh by a count of 6-3 on Friday night at Marge Schott Stadium. For Osterbrock, it was his third win in as many starts, and the second complete game in the last three outings for the lefthander.

Jamel Scott started the scoring for Cincinnati in the first inning. After a one-out single, the sophomore stole second base and advanced to third on a ground out. A fielding error off the bat of Kevin Johnson allowed Scott to come home for the first UC run of the day.

Cincinnati (18-11, 8-2 BIG EAST) found the scoring column again in the third inning. Tony Campana opened inning with an infield single and the speedy senior was standing on third with one out, after a advancing via a ground out and a stolen base. Josh Harrison's sacrifice fly plated Campana to give UC a 2-0 advantage.

Pittsburgh (9-18, 2-8 BIG EAST) evened the score with two runs of its own in the fourth inning. A leadoff double, followed by back-to-back singles, plated the first Pitt run of the night. A sacrifice fly brought home the second run to balance the score, at 2-2.

Harrison knocked a one-out single and was at second base with two outs when Cameron Satterwhite smashed a two-run home run off the video board above the 365-feet marker in right-center field. Satterwhite's third round-tripper of the season made it a 4-2 Bearcats lead.

The Panthers cut the margin to one, at 4-3 with a run in the sixth inning. Threatening to create a difficult situation for Osterbrock, the Panthers used three consecutive singles to score a run. A an unconventional double play, courtesy of a strike out and caught stealing, cut the rally short. Osterbrock disposed of the next batter with another strike out to stop the threat. The Bearcats' junior punched out eight and walked none.

The Bearcats added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning. Kevin Johnson led off the frame with a walk and after a pair of outs, designated hitter Tyler Goodro ripped a two-run blast to right field to set the final count at 6-3. It was the third home run of the season off the bat of Goodro and second in three games this week.

Pitt starter Nate Reed went the distance, throwing eight innings in the losing effort. Reed (4-4) allowed six runs on nine hits to take the loss.

Eight of the Bearcats' nine batters recorded a base hit in the contest. Scott extended his career-long hitting streak to nine consecutive games with his first-inning safety. Osterbrock is 3-1 in BIG EAST play.

The Bearcats and Panthers return to Marge Schott Stadium on Saturday for the second game of their BIG EAST Conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
