Here's what is going on in UC sports this week:
- The baseball team will host Western Michigan in a four-game series this weekend at Marge Schott Stadium. Game one will be at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by a doubleheader Saturday. The first game is at 1 p.m., and the second game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The final game will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Bearcats are 7-5 this season.
- The men's basketball team will make its return to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the West region. UC will open tournament play against 11th-seeded Missouri at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday.
- The outdoor track team opens its 2011 season when it hosts the Early Bird Relays Saturday at Gettler Stadium.

In case you missed it:
- The baseball team swept Cleveland State in a three-game home series last weekend at Marge Schott Stadium. The Bearcats won game one last Friday, 3-1, followed by a 13-1 victory last Saturday, and 5-0 win last Sunday.
- The No. 25 men's basketball team defeated South Florida in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament last Wednesday, 87-61, in New York, N.Y. Cincinnati went on to drop an 89-51 decision to No. 4 Notre Dame in the quarterfinals last Thursday. UC enters the NCAA Tournament 25-8 (11-7 BIG EAST).
- The women's lacrosse team defeated Detroit, 14-12, last Friday at Nippert Stadium. Cincinnati snapped a three-game losing streak while handing the Titans their third-straight loss. The Bearcats are 2-4 on the year.
- The women's tennis team defeated West Virginia last Friday, 6-1, in Morgantown, W.Va. The victory marked Cincinnati's first win against West Virginia in five years. The Bearcats went on to complete a perfect weekend with a 6-1 win over Pittsburgh last Saturday morning, and a 7-0 sweep against Providence that evening, in Pittsburgh, Pa. UC is 5-10 overall and 4-3 in the BIG EAST.
- The department of athletics has announced the opening of the renewal period for both season-ticket holders and UCATS members for the 2011 football season. The renewal period runs through April 22, 2011 and those that take advantage on UC's online renewal system will be eligible for a drawing that includes some great prizes.
- The men's soccer team and head coach Hylton Dayes have announced the 2011 spring soccer schedule. Matches against 2010 NCAA champion Akron and 2010 NCAA participants Ohio State and Butler highlight the slate, which also features the annual alumni match.
- UC announced founding member of the women's soccer program, the late Kim Berman, as the recipient of the 2011 National Girls and Women in Sports Day Award last Wednesday. Berman, who passed away at the age of 52 in the fall of 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer, leaves a strong legacy behind at the University of Cincinnati and in women's sports.
