Here is a look at what's coming up this week in UC sports:
- The football team will try for a third straight win at 8 p.m. Friday in the Ring of Red game against USF at Nippert Stadium. This will be the second BIG EAST game of the season, and will be televised on ESPN2. The Bearcats are 3-3 (1-0 BIG EAST).
- The men's golf team will compete in the Davidson College Invitational Monday-Tuesday in Davidson, N.C.
- The men's soccer team will host No. 22/25 USF at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats then match up against Villanova at 12 p.m. Saturday in Villanova, Pa. Cincinnati is 6-4-3 overall and is in second place in the BIG EAST's Red Division at 4-1-0.
- The women's soccer team will face off against Rutgers at 7 p.m. Friday in Camden, N.J. The Bearcats will then take on Seton Hall at 1 p.m. Sunday in South Orange, N.J. Cincinnati is 8-8-1 (2-7-0 BIG EAST).
- The swimming and diving team will kick off the 2010-11 season with a meet against cross-town rival Xavier at 5 p.m. Friday in Cincinnati, Ohio.
- The No. 21 women's volleyball team will take on Western Kentucky at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Bowling Green, Ky. UC will then play two straight home matches this weekend. The Bearcats will host USF at 2 p.m. Saturday, and Georgetown at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fifth Third Arena. Cincinnati is 17-4 and tied for first in the BIG EAST at 6-1.

Bearcats and the Community:
- UC's Homecoming is set this year for Saturday, Oct. 30. The exact time and schedule for game-day festivities will depend on the determination of kickoff time for the Syracuse-UC football game at Nippert Stadium. That decision has yet to be finalized by the BIG EAST Conference and its broadcast partners but game time will be announced today, Monday Oct. 18. In case you missed it:
- The men's and women's cross country squads placed 25th and 35th, respectively, at the 2010 Pre-National Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University, on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Family Sports Center. UC's Eric Finan covered the 8,000-meter course in 23:59.5 to lead the Bearcats' effort and place an impressive 13th. On the women's side, Michelle McKenney was the top UC finisher in 107th place. She timed in at 21:53.3.
- The football team defeated Louisville, 35-27, in its BIG EAST opener last Friday. Junior quarterback Zach Collaros threw a career-high five touchdown passes, including three to senior wideout Armon Binns.
- The men's golf team finished seventh at its home fall tournament, the UC Invitational, last Tuesday at Traditions Golf Club. Zack Bates fired a tournament-best 65 in the first round. He followed with rounds of 76 and 77 to finish eighth with a 218 total, two over par. UC finished with rounds of 289-303-293=885, three shots behind sixth-place Bowling Green (301-298-283=882).
- The women's golf team finished 11th at Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate last Wednesday at the New Mexico State Golf Course. Bambee Dela Paz finished in a tie for 22nd with rounds of 74-80-70=224, one shot ahead of freshman Andrea Malek. The Bearcats shot 300-308-298=906 to finish 11th, two shots behind Northern Arizona (306-301-297=904).
- The men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 2/5 Louisville last Wednesday at Gettler Stadium. This was the Bearcats' first BIG EAST loss and first home loss this season. Cincinnati then came back to defeat Seton Hall last Saturday, 2-1, in South Orange, N.J. UC's 4-1-0 start in league play is its best since opening the 2005 BIG EAST slate 4-0-2.
- The women's soccer team fell 4-0 to No. 20/22 Marquette in BIG EAST Conference play last Friday in Milwaukee, Wis. They went on to lose a match against USF on Sunday, 1-0, in Tampa, Fla.
- The women's volleyball team had its 10-match winning streak snapped last Saturday as Louisville upset the Bearcats 3-2 at Cardinal Arena. Cincinnati owned a one game lead in the BIG EAST over the Cardinals heading into play.
